About this dua
This is the dua Prophet Yunus called out from the darkness inside the whale: “There is no god but You, glory be to You; I have been among the wrongdoers” (Quran 21:87). Allah answered him and saved him from distress, “and so We save the believers” (Quran 21:88).
The Prophet ﷺ said: the dua of Dhun-Nun when he called in the belly of the whale, no Muslim ever calls with it for anything except that Allah answers him (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3505, graded sahih). For heavy days also see the dua when in distress, and the meaning of La ilaha illallah.
