About this dua

This is the dua of Prophet Musa (Moses) عليه السلام when Allah sent him to Pharaoh, a task that seemed impossible. He asked Allah to open his heart, ease his task, and loosen the knot in his tongue so people would understand him (Quran 20:25–28).

The full passage continues: وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي (wa-ḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī yafqahū qawlī): “and untie the knot from my tongue, so they may understand my speech.” Many people recite it before speaking in public.
