Tabarakallah Meaning

Blessed is Allah. The meaning, Arabic, when to say it, and its source in the Quran and Sunnah.

تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ

Transliteration
Tabāraka-llāh
Meaning
Blessed is Allah

Tabarakallah means “blessed is Allah” (or “Allah is full of blessing”). Like Mashallah, people say it when admiring something good, to praise Allah who created it.

In the Quran

After describing the stages of human creation, the Quran says: “fa-tabāraka-llāhu aḥsanu l-khāliqīn”, so blessed is Allah, the best of creators (Quran 23:14). It also says “Blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds” (Quran 7:54).

Tabarakallah vs Mashallah

Both are said when admiring something. Mashallah (“what Allah has willed”) credits the blessing to Allah’s will; Tabarakallah praises Allah as the source of all blessing. Many people say both: “Mashallah, tabarakallah.” To pray for the blessing to continue, say Allahumma barik.
